Jim MetcalfeCollege Development Network (CDN) is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Jim Metcalfe.

Jim Metcalfe is currently Head of Development and Practice at the Carnegie UK Trust. His work with the Trust over the last five years has focused on entrepreneurship and skills, local economic development, and supporting leadership networks across sectors. He has also worked extensively with further education institutions across the UK and Ireland, particularly through the Enterprising Minds and TestTown initiatives.

Prior to joining Carnegie UK, Jim worked as a director with the charity Age Concern England, and as a researcher for two members of parliament and serving Government ministers. He is a director of the UK Energy Saving Trust, and a member of the national council of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies. He is also a member of the Scottish Government Strengthening Communities board, and from 2012-2014 was an adviser to the European Commission on entrepreneurship education.

Jim lives in Glasgow with his wife Sarah, and their two children Rosa and Ally.

Commenting on his appointment as Chief Executive of CDN, Jim said: ‘It is an honour to have been appointed by the Board. I am looking forward to joining a wonderful team in the New Year, delivering crucial services for the college sector and its stakeholders. I hope that I can contribute to the organisation’s already strong reputation, and the innovative portfolio of work it undertakes.’

Jim will take up his new post as Chief Executive of CDN on Wednesday 4 January.
